Letter to Birthparents

Hello,

We are so glad that you have chosen to take the time to read a bit about us and get to know us a little better. We hope that as you read this you are able to feel our Heavenly Father’s love for you and our love for you as well. Please know that we are thinking and praying for you, and that you will feel peace and comfort from our Heavenly Father during this time.

About Us

Nathan and I have been very happily married for more than five years. The story of how we met actually begins more than 18 years before our first date. Both of our fathers work for the same company and many years ago Nathans father was my father’s supervisor. During a particularly busy couple of weeks they ended up working closely on many occasions. Conversation eventually turned to the subject of hunting which is a hobby that they both share. My father mentioned that he enjoyed hunting but did not know where the best areas were. Nathan’s father replied that his family had property and a cabin where they hunted every year and invited him to come and join them. From that time on my dad always hunted with Nathan’s family. As the years passed their children grew older and their sons joined them on the annual hunts. The time eventually came for my younger brother to leave for his mission and he invited all of Nathan’s family to attend his farewell. As luck would have it I had just returned from my mission, and my homecoming talk was the same day. That was where Nathan first saw me. Two weeks later we had our first date on New Year’s Eve; and nine months after that we were married in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

We enjoy living in a small town with only one stop light, and where every night we can see the stars. With just a short drive we can be in the mountains or out fishing at the nearby reservoir. We have close relationships with both our families and spend time with them often. Nathans parents and siblings live close to us and my family is just a short hour drive away.

Every year we look forward to spending time at the family cabin hunting, fishing, horse-back riding, or snowmobiling depending on the season. When we are home we spend our time talking, restoring our 1969 Chevy pickup truck, playing with our dog Jasper, working in our yard, and watching movies.

Some of Nathan’s favorite hobbies include working with his horse Buck, working with heavy equipment such as a backhoe or dump truck, and listening to music. Nathan is also very handy and can fix or build almost anything.  He is a true outdoorsman. Weather its hunting, fishing, working on cars or mowing the lawn he loves spending time outside in nature.

I enjoy reading, quilting, knitting, working with both the cub scouts and the young women, getting pedicures with my mom, keeping life organized, and most of all spending time my husband Nathan.

Nathan about Jen

My wife is a very independent, straight forward, and honest person.  She has a very kind and caring personality that when she talks to people they just like her.  She is fun and adventurous and not afraid to try new things.  The best part is that she puts up with me, and that's a lot.

Jen about Nathan

What can I say, I think that Nathan is amazing!  He is my best friend in every way.  A few words that I would use to describe him would be loyal, genuine, playful, dedicated, self-motivated, responsible, caring and young at heart.  He can always make me laugh and finds ways to make everyday special.

Why Adoption

After several years of trying to have a baby and eventually months of medical testing, the specialist we had been seeing informed us that there would be no possibility of us conceiving children naturally. We were broken hearted. We spent weeks going over the different options; talking and praying to know what the right choice would be for us and our family. We ultimately have come to know that growing our family through adoption is what our Heavenly Father wants us to do.

We are thankful for the chance that we have had to tell you a little bit about ourselves. We want nothing more than to be parents and to raise a family in love and happiness. We hope that as you search your heart, you will be able to make the decision for you and your baby that brings you peace. We admire you and your courage at this time in your life and are so grateful for you. We wish you the best.

-Nathan and Jen
